What to do???What to do???

Life here in Northern Ontario has quickly taken a turn for the worse. The economy went from super good to super bad in less than a year. To give you a quick run down of what I did in the good times was change company and opened my own office with 2 great guys from the area. The issue now, is that alot of mines are closing. Mining is our life here in the Sudbury area, okay, it's not as much our lives as it used to be, but the mines still affect most industries in the area, including mine, Real Estate. So now, i'm sitting here trying to decide what to do, to make sure we get by the hard times and stay afloat. Real Estate has slowed to a crawl as people don't want to commit to a house when they don't know if they will have a job in the morning. I'm thinking I might go for a part time job for now just to have something to fall back on. Because if I don't sell houses we are in big trouble, no houses, no money, no money, no fun.... I'm totally okay with having to get a job to fall back on but what i'm wondering now is do I keep my office or do I let it go. It's costing a LARGE amount to maintain in business on a monthly basis. An amount that most of you would not believe, alot of people think Real Estate Agents make all this money but they really don't realize all we pay on a monthly basis just to keep our license going. So my big question at this point is what to do? what to do? I know i'll figure it out but i'm asking you all a small favor tonight, if you could please find time to send some positive energy my way I know that it will help us make this hard decision. Sorry this post is not about adoption, it's just about what i'm feeling at the moment. I want to make the right decision to be able to provide for my son once he is home.

That is a hard decision! I used to be a real estate agent so I totally understand about all the costs. You're a smart woman and you will make the right decision for you!

Oh Natalie! Do I hear ya. We build new homes for a living....and since the market slow down (in our case correction) there are days when we are a wee bit worried.

I say if the office costs you more than is necessary and you can get out of the lease then ditch it. Try working from home...it costs less and a percentage of your home cost can be written off.

Sending you lots of positive vibes!!!

The good news is - while our ecomony might be in the trash can right now - history has shown that the only place to go is up!

We'll pray for you as you make your decision. I do understand your fears. I am a teacher and don't know exactly what I can do part time once the baby is home so I don't have to go back to work. Lots to think about. Here in BC I think the forest industry is to us what mining is to you. My husband got laid off last November because of the decline in the forest industry. Luckily he got another job five months later, but it pays a lot less. We're just happy he got a job though, but we do have to both be bringing in something to make it. I can tell you that are intelligent people who think things through so I'm sure you'll come up with the best decision, but we are sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.

Thanks everyone for the great support. I've decided to start applying for jobs and see what comes up. Once an opportunity presents itself i'll make my other decisions at that time. It's all about my family now and what best for all of us. Thanks again, Natalie
I sooooo hope to meet you all someday.

Hi Natalie,
I came over to your blog to respond to you comment on my blog, just so I know you get it! I really LOVE it that you leave comments on our blog. We don't get very many, and it's so fun when we do! Also, I too am VERY happy that we have another couple to travel this journey with, even though we live so far apart, which is a shame. But it will be very fun because when something happens for you, we can start hoping that a couple of weeks later or so we might get some good news too. Especially since our requests are so similar. We are asking for either gender, 0-6 months at referral, but know that more people ask for girls, so may very well get a boy, which is what you are asking for, right? But on the other hand, if there are more of you asking for boys with timelines around ours, we may very well get a girl. So who knows! It will be exciting either way!
